WWI Army Private (Horrible Histories) Costume
World War I began in central Europe in 1914 and lasted just over 4 years until November 1918. Take a step back in time with this costume, to when sleep was rare, rats were everywhere and infection was common. This uniform was one of the first Army uniform to use camouflage colours to stay hidden from enemies. Life in the trenches weren't so good and the uniform did not protect the soldiers from very much!

The purpose of a pith hat during WWI was to protect the soldier's head from sun! This wasn't much use when it came to explosions, but lucky for you, you don't have to worry about that! You can wear this uniform just for fun! Or, how about for World Book Day? Celebrate Horrible Histories Books by being a WWI Army Private! This costume is a camel colour. The jacket has an attached belt and buttons down the front. The trousers tighten around the calf and the hat has a blue piece of material that goes around the head.
