Where else would you find an Eighteenth Century Lord talking to John Travolta over a glass of wine, or Cleopatra salsa dancing with Darth Vader? The answer can only be a fancy dress party and a good one at that!

Fancy dress parties, also known as 'costume parties' or 'retro parties' are often linked to a birthday celebration, leaving do or an annual event. An event that is now growing in popularity, certain famous and popular well known stars are frequently parodied. These stars include Audrey Hepburn and Madonna and the costumes of choice are often focused on a particular era or decade.

However, when faced with a Seventies costume party and the challenge of choosing something original and fun it can often be tough to think of something. If you're mind's a blank then look no further than the cane and fabulous zoot suit of a pimp outfit.

For a pimp fancy dress costume think gangster hat, spats, a large gold chain and brightly coloured flares. Or pimp costumes that feature a wide brimmed hat, winkle pickers, a bright bold shirt with a large open collar and a knee-length coat to match.

Of course a pimp outfit needs to feature as much bling as possible so make sure you accessorise your outfit well!
