There's no harder working floor than a dance floor. It might sound obvious but the fact necessitates that dance floors are well cared for to keep them in great shape. Dance floors take a lot of abuse and can suffer a great deal of wear and tear if not properly looked after and maintained. After all, the pressure under a stiletto heal is equivalent to that under an elephants foot. Coupled with spilled drinks and worse it is essential that a high grade dance floor polish is used to toughen up the surface and seal it from any liquid spills.
The traditional and still one of the best products is a wax containing natural beeswax that soaks into the wood. Traditional formulations can be arduous and time consuming to apply and many proprietors prefer to use a liquid wax polish that is easy to apply and suitable for both wood and cork floors. The wax comes in a large bottle and can be sprayed over the floor and then evenly distributed using a mop. For wooden floors already coated with a hard lacquer that is just looking a little dull through hard use, freshen up products can be bought as a supplement to revive the new look sheen of a just polished dance floor.
It's also important to use the right product to clean the floor down and remove sticky residues and dirt without lifting any of the layers of protection. Dance floor soap cleaners are specially formulated to lift off the unwanted spills and stains while leaving the protective wax well alone.
