Fancy dress is fun and a fake moustache as an addition to a hired costume always make onlookers smile. Performers and artistes find fake hair vital in order to present themselves in different guises. A false moustache can be the final finishing touch to an outfit. When not in use they can be cleaned, brushed and stored in a box for future use.

In times past it was common for gentlemen to sport moustaches and, when considering the hire of an old fashioned costume, the addition of a moustache can be crucial. Moustaches were very popular during the Victorian era and were also sported by many Chinese and Japanese gentlemen. A comical sight is when a moustache is worn by a lady who is clearly impersonating a man!

There's no need for actors to grow a moustache when a false moustache can easily be bought from a fancy dress company. There are various styles and colours available. Moustaches can curl up at the ends for a debonair look or they can look comical if they turn down at the sides. As well as a fake moustache there are body wigs which make a non-hairy chest into a hairy one in order, one supposes, to impress the ladies! Sideburns, a fancy dress moustache and a full head wig can turn the simplest of outfits into something very distinctive and authentic. All these aspects of fancy dress help to make a party go with a swing or to help a theatrical production more professional.
